WRESTLING SURPRISES JERRY...AGAIN! |
July 1, 2006 It has been a long time since I have been surprised by anything in wrestling. I had come to the conclusion that I had seen everything that wrestling had to offer. There were no new gimmicks around, it was all tired rehashing of things that had gone before. That was before I watched Smackdown tonight. That was before I saw... VITO! Let me backtrack a bit here. Those who are acquainted with me in the least know that I have been watching wrestling for quite some time. One of the most famous wrestlers was a psychologist who wrestled under the name “Gorgeous George”. Gorgeous George used his psychology to his advantage in his matches, and the mind game was his calling card. This brings us back to Vito. For those who are uninitiated, Vito wrestles in a dress. But it doesn’t end there. It’s also what’s under the dress that’s just as important for this to work. Now, UPN blurred it out, but I’m going to operate under the assumption that it was a thong. After all, even with the blurring, it is very easy to distinguish the cheeks of a man’s buttocks. Vito is one of the most unique gimmicks I have seen in quite some time. From the plucked and drawn in eye brows, to the make up, Vito is a treat. His opponent is totally afraid to get too close, and in the match I was watching, his opponent spent a good part of the match pulling Vito’s dress back down. The finisher had me falling on the floor. Vito straddled his opponent while he was on his knees, and put his dress over the opponent’s head! Vito’s opponent tapped out immediately. So, here’s to mind games and to the newest practitioner of it. Vito, I salute you! It takes courage to come out like that to begin with, and then to show absolutely NO self consciousness at all is truly entertaining. Just goes to show you, when you thought you’d seen it all. |
