Tonight, WWE brought SmackDown and ECW to the John E. Worthen Arena at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana
for a Supershow. OPENING SEGMENT: THEODORE LONG After the National Anthem was played, SmackDown General Manager, Theodore Long came to the ring and revealed it had been eight years since WWE came to Muncie so to make up for the lack of wrestling, he was going to present THREE championship matches! He announced that the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista would defend his championship against Finlay and that the ECW World Champion, Bobby Lashley would defend the title against Test. When the fans began to boo Test, Long asked if they liked him to which they booed again. The General Manager responded with, "Well, that's okay because none of the boys in the back like Test either!" WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH - CHRIS BENOIT (C) V/S CHAVO GUERRERO The first match of the evening was also the first of three championship matches to be held at the John E. Worthen Arena. It was another opportunity for Chavo Guerrero to capture the United States Championship and it was another battle in the long yet very personal war between the champion and the challenger. The match almost ended in the first minute or so when Benoit managed to apply the Sharpshooter on his opponent but the hold was broken when Guerrero reached the ropes. During the match, Benoit actually executed FIVE BACK-TO-BACK GERMAN SUPLEXES in a row! The championship match ended when Chris Benoit applied the Crippler Crossface and subsequently forced Guerrero to tap out. WINNER - Chris Benoit, still United States Champion, via submission FUNAKI & JIMMY WANG YANG V/S DEUCE & DOMINO A new tag team debuted tonight. They are Deuce and Domino. They have been competing in OVW and DSW as The Untouchables. The Untouchables are former three-time OVW Southern Tag Team Champions and are now trying to take over World Wrestling Entertainment. Their manager, Cherry, actually moves around via roller skates. The threesome resemble three individuals from the 1950s. Also, if you are unaware, Deuce and Domino are twins. The newest tag team to invade SmackDown were victorious in this match. WINNERS - Deuce & Domino CM PUNK V/S MATT STRIKER The first match from the Extreme Championship Wrestling brand came in the form of "Mr. Straight Edge" himself, CM Punk versus "Your School Teacher" Matt Striker. Before the match began, Matt Striker came to the ring and began insulting the audience. After several minutes of insulting the audience's intelligence level, Striker's opponent came running to the ring but instead of standing around and facing Punk one-on-one, Striker ran to the outside. This match resembled an Extreme Rules match even though it wasn't. Striker used every trick in the book by using his sweater and even his wrist tape to choke out his opponent. In the end, it was CM Punk who was declared victorious after he forced Striker to submit to the Anaconda Vice. WINNER - CM Punk via submission HOT BODY CONTEST - ASHLEY V/S REBECCA V/S KELLY V/S KRISTAL The Miz was announced as the host of the Hot Body Contest and revealed that he hangs around with beautiful people but there are none in Indiana so he isn't going to wrestle tonight. He then announced that there would be a Hot Body Contest between the Divas of SmackDown and the Divas of ECW. Ashley was introduced first and she gave The Miz a hug. Rebecca, the interviewer on ECW, was then introduced and did not hug The Miz. Ashley started to laugh which prompted a "That wasn't funny!" from The Miz; however the two Divas disagreed. The second ECW Diva, Kelly, came to the ring and she too did not give Miz a hug. The fans were laughing as they enjoyed Miz being ignored. Then Miz introduced Kristal as a Diva who is classy, among other compliments. She gave him a hug to which he responded with "I've got game!" After the Divas performed, Miz asked the fans to cheer for who they feel should win. It was obvious Ashley received the most cheers, but Miz announced Kristal as the winner. The fans and the other three Divas began a chant of "YOU SUCK!" towards Miz. It was at this point that The Boogeyman's music started to play. Kristal quickly left but the other Divas pulled Miz into the center of the ring and then left the ring. Boogeyman came from under the ring and performed the double chokeslam move before spitting worms on Miz. Boogeyman ran to the locker room and Miz tried to get the worms off of him. WINNER - Kristal TOMMY DREAMER V/S DAIVARI In the second ECW match of the night, Daivari came to the ring with The Great Khali. When Tommy Dreamer's theme song began to play, both Daivari and Khali looked toward the dressing room. Khali even went to the outside of the ring to "meet" the Concience of ECW; however, Dreamer outsmarted them both and entered the arena through the crowd. After several moves, he climbed to the top rope but Khali tripped him and then Daivari pinned the Extreme Original. Daivari and Khali literally STOLE this match. I don't usually write editorial comments in reports like this but Tommy Dreamer is NOT a jobber; however, WWE seems to only use him as a jobber. T-D deserves better and it's time that his fans and the ECW fans begin to show support for him. A few years ago, Tommy Dreamer as ECW World Champion did NOT sound illogical and it still doesn't but I don't see the championship being around Dreamer's waist the way WWE is booking Dreamer. Rant over. WINNER - Daivari EXTREME RULES MATCH - ROB VAN DAM V/S HARDCORE HOLLY This is a feud where at first, I wasn't excited about. Quite frankly...I don't like Hardcore Holly. However, tonight I saw a very entertaining match and it takes two to display a very entertaining match. During the opening moments of the night, I noticed RVD was upset because instead of using wrestling mats to surround the squared circle, there was carpet instead. A chair was used several times but there wasn't any blood. The match ended after RVD landed a 5-star Frog Splash on Holly. For an Extreme Rules Match, this match was kinda lame but for an ordinary match, it was very good. WINNER - Rob Van Dam |
