WWE BORN TO CONTROVERSY:
THE RODDY PIPER STORY
In 2005, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and nearly two years later, WWE Home Video honors Hot Rod with his first Superstar Personality Profile DVD.  On November 14, the first DVD under the Genius Products distribution deal will be released and that DVD is entitled, WWE Born To Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story.

This is a special three-disc DVD set.  The feature program is two hours long and the extras included in this release is going to make Piper fans very happy.  On disc 3, only episodes of Piper's Pit are included.  Who does The Rowdy One interview?  We'll get to that later.  But right now let's discuss the feature program.

The program on Piper is one of the best ones that was released in
2006.  Two indepth interviews were conducted with Piper.  One was conducted at the WWE TV Studios and the other was at Piper's residence in Portland.  The Hall of Famer discusses his time living on the streets, his start in Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, what caused him not being able to rejoin WWE for ten years and much more.

In addition to hearing from Piper and his family, other individuals who were interviewed were: "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, "Mean" Gene Okerlund and Bruce Prichard.  I was shocked that neither Vince McMahon or Eric Bischoff spoke on the DVD.

The footage alone that is contained in the feature program is worth your money.  While the program progresses, you see footage from Portland Wrestling, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling, World Wrestling Federation, World Championship Wrestling, and World Wrestling Entertainment.  The DVD doesn't stay away from the controversial moments either.  Included in the feature program is a segment discussing (and showing highlights of) Piper's controversial interview with HBO Sports that was conducted in 2003.

Other topics discussed in the feature program are: Piper's Pit, Mr. T, the Dog Collar Match against Greg Valentine for the NWA United States Championship, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, Piper's feud with Hulk Hogan in both WCW and the World Wrestling Federation, his numerous returns to the World Wrestling Federation, Piper as the Intercontinental Champion and a color commentator, Piper's family, Piper as an actor, his loyalty to Don Owen and Portland Wrestling and much more!

Piper comes off as a very honest person.  Amazingly, he seems very down-to-Earth dispite his fame and notoriety.  After watching the feature program, you get a feeling that not only does he love his family but he would do anything for them.  Piper appears to be a very stand-up individual and while he has regrets in his life, he doesn't shy away from explaining them.

I received WWE Born To Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story this past Tuesday and I've already watched it twice.  It is the type of DVD that you will want to watch over and over and you'll never get tired of it.  From matches to promos to Piper's Pit, there is plenty to watch and keep yourself occupied.  WWE Born To Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story is a must have for any old school wrestling fan or a Roddy Piper fan.  Get your copy today by
